More Hours In My Day Please…

Do you ever feel like there are just not enough hours in the day? Sometimes I feel like I am burning the candle at both ends and not ever getting any farther to my goals, but the kidlets always come first (well after God and my husband, of course).

Moses had a headache for a few days last week and I didn’t think anything of it (except dehydration and too much sun). Then one day this week, Zion woke up with a high fever (can’t remember the exact day, but I am thinking Tuesday) and later that morning Malachi woke up with a headache and fever.

Grandma took Elisha and Moses out so they could get relief from the cranky sick kids, but when they came back Elisha had a fever too and was not feeling well. Then later that night, Hosanna presented with a fever. The fevers and headaches lasted about 24 hours for each kid and then now they all have sore throats.

I don’t know about you, but this mama finds it hard to sleep when her kids have fevers (or are sick at all). We have been taking it easy and eating popsicles, watching movies, drinking apple juice, eating more popsicles, taking pain/fever meds, and watching more movies. Lots of snuggling, a little bit of whining, and no one is interested in eating, so we are living on toast (and other food, but only for those that want it).

Our Trip To The Waterpark Last Week (above)

We missed our park day yesterday and spent the day snuggling on the couch. I love my kids (very, very much), but it is so hard to snuggle with multiple hot fevery kids in the middle of summer (hey, I am just being honest here). Our house is so hot, but I know the kids are not feeling well, so I am tolerating it (they will be grown soon and not want to snuggle anymore, so I will take it when I can get it).

After a week of sleepless nights, and a few days of working one handed while snuggling random kids (which is why we work at home), the kids are acting sort of back to normal again and I feel like I had a productive day (pushed through some creative road blocks and got some things accomplished).

Then late this afternoon the kids were jumping on the thick foam mattress in Zion’s room and Moses hurt his hand. We have iced it and will see how it is in the morning. You know they are feeling somewhat better when they are jumping around and playing (even if they are too “tired” for chores).

So, for Christmas this year (you were asking me what I wanted, right?), I would like a few more hours in my day. If it was just a little bit longer, I might have time to get everything done and actually sleep.
