Intrigued by Couponing

Let’s just say that I have been a little more than intrigued by couponing recently. I have come across many mommy bloggers who clip coupons from newspapers or print them from on-line. I live in Canada and I have to admit that I rarely see coupons in any of our newspapers. Where are all the coupons for Canada?

I went on a hunt today to learn more about couponing in general and to find some resources for snail mail coupons (Canada specific). I had to dig through many sites with repeat resources and a great deal of useless information, but I found some real keepers that I want to share with you. The following sites let you register and then choose which snail mail coupons you want delivered to your door. The coupons will reset after a certain length of time, so you will have to go back and request them or new ones again.

Now, just so that you don’t think I am sending you on wild goose chase, some of the major brands directed me to these sites via their websites. I have actually visited all of the above sites and requested coupons from them and yes, I will do a follow up post when the coupons arrive.

After I learned where to get coupons for those of us in Canada, I went on to learn more about how the couponing process works. Don’t get me wrong, I still have tons to learn, but I really feel like I was able to grasp the general concept (which has alluded me for a long while). You get your coupons and then you look for sales in your local grocery store fliers and you match them to the coupons for even lower prices.

Then next step for me after finding the snail mail coupon sites was to look for all the grocery stores, pharmacies and department stores in my city (Victoria, BC) that I would actually use and find links for their on-line fliers. This was a fairly easy task for me because I have used several of these on-line fliers for checking out weekly specials in the past.

Now that all the research is done, I will sit and wait for my coupons to arrive in the mail. Okay, maybe not. I think I will be looking at little harder at our local free and paid newspapers to see if there are indeed any coupons or coupon inserts lurking inside.

If you coupon (anywhere), I would love to hear your tips and tricks.

Do you have resources or ideas to offer me (and my readers) as I begin this journey?
