Homeschool Mother’s Journal

In my life this week…

We had our annual rent review due this week and I tackled SIX years worth of paperwork organizing to find everything that we needed. Thank goodness I keep everything, but I need a better system.

In our homeschool this week…

We are taking an impromptu spring break (which will continue until the end of next week – yippee!). The boys are still learning. They have been watching MythBusters, creating art, and playing with cousins.

Places we’re going and people we’re seeing…

We have visited with my sister and her kidlets and my mom and dad.

My favorite thing this week was…

Having Zion (2 year old twin) fall asleep on my shoulder while watching tv, in the middle of the afternoon.

What’s working/not working for us…

It is not working for Jonah and I to have toys in the livingroom anymore so that will be changing very soon.

Homeschool questions/thoughts I have…

Are you taking a spring break?

A photo, video, link, or quote to share…

We took an unplanned sort of break for a visit from Grandma. :) We did Bible, History and Science. Homeschooling is so flexible!

    1. Hi Sam,

Thank you so much for visiting. A visit from Grandma is always nice. We are blessed to have my mom as our “teacher’s aid” so we get to see lots of her (and grandpa too).

  2. We are kind of taking spring break. We’re going to school on days Daddy works and not school on his days off. My 15YO goes to public school so this plan gives us family time together which is rare with Daddy and 15YO’s schedules.

    1. Hi Becca,

Thank you for taking a moment out of your day to stop and visit and leave a comment. I love how flexible homeschooling is. Enjoy your “kind of” spring break.

    1. Hi Cheryl,

I loved that quote too and didn’t want to forget it. Thank you for taking a moment to stop by and leave me a comment.

  3. We’ll be taking a spring break after next week. We always take our breaks and vacations when my Dear Man has his.

I used to keep each year’s paperwork in one drawer, the kind you get from Stuff Mart and they stack on each other. So one drawer for each year. This year though I moved each year to it’s own file folder and put them all in one big file box. Takes up less room and will be easier to move around if I should have to move again someday. (Not too soon I hope, we just moved into our new house!)

    1. Hi,
Thanks for taking the time to visit my blog and leave a comment. I did end up getting 2 plastic buckets – one for finances and one for school papers. I feel so much more organized now even just making a few minor changes.

  4. Awww, enjoy the cuddles!! Seems as if the 2yr olds don’t have as much time to cuddle with their Mama’s much, anymore :)

We are having a “mini” spring break. The first weekend in April we’re going to a big Homeschool Convention & the Monday after going to Newport Aquarium with our homeschool group :) We’re ALL looking forward to it!! :)

Btw, I’m visiting over from Homeschool Chick :) Off to click on your “Homeschool 4 Free” link up there!! :)

    1. Hi Mandy,
Thank you so much for visiting and taking the time to leave a comment. The 2.5yr old twins are very cuddly and would have their nummas (milk) all day long if I let them.
Oh a homeschool convention and the aquarium! That sounds like so much fun.
I am so thankful that you stopped by from the homeschool chick. I love Sue’s website.
Have fun looking around my site.

  5. Oh, yes we are taking the week off for Spring Break! I don’t know who needs it more me or the kids. =0) We haven’t had but a day here or there since January 3rd. Its time for a official break.

  6. We usually don’t have an official spring break, we just take days off when we want to, but this year we are going to visit my oldest daughter in CO. She works at a school & Baskin Robbins so we are going down while she is on spring break.
