What Are Workboxes?

I am so excited! There has been a great deal of buzz lately about this new system for organizing your home school. The Workbox System was created by Sue Patrick. You can read more about it here…

I have been reading with much interest. I have discussed the system with our support teacher and our occupational therapist and both agree that it would work very nicely for Elisha and all the children. We have tried schedules before and not had much success because our “time watcher” would fall apart if something disrupted the schedule. The Workbox System will give us a schedule that is not tied to a clock. The Workbox System will give him and all the kids a chance to work at their own pace on some activities and hopefully create little pockets of time for me to work with everyone individually.

There is a yahoo group for the Workbox System. I have been receiving a great deal of mail from them lately and it has been very interesting to read. There are some excellent discussions happening with specific help and ideas for implementing the Workbox System into your homeschool. You can join the yahoo group here –

I don’t remember exactly how I heard about the Workbox System. I do know that it kind of happened all at once and then exploded. I was hooked from the first time I heard about it. The more I heard, the more I was intrigued and inspired. There are many blogs with pictures of how the families are using the Workbox System. You can check them out here…

I am so excited and I can’t wait to start the Workbox System in our homeschool. To finish off this year, I will be using banker’s boxes. I only have 17 boxes for three children. I was thinking that I could simply put two activities into each box and include more things on the schedule strip. Today is my birthday and I think I would like to spend it getting ready for the last month of school. It would be nice to finish out this year with a bang.

I am so very excited about NEXT YEAR that it is hard to focus on the rest of this school year. We will be using Sonlight for the first time and lots of cool new materials. We have to wait for our materials to come (I have not ordered yet) so we might as well test out the Workbox System while we are waiting.

Please leave a comment if you are workboxing or have a resource that you would like to see added to this post.
