Weekly Wrap Up

Spring might be officially here. If that were true, there would be many little people around here doing a happy dance. The weather has been beautiful, so we  got outside and played some ball and picked some flowers while the OT worked with Elisha last Friday.

Another nice day and we were able to visit the park. Elisha complained about bark mulch in his holey sandals. Hosanna fell off the climbing bars and banged her head, but she was back in the game quickly (it was minor, thankfully).  Zion stepped in poop with his bright red rubber boots.

A tender moment between twins.

On Thursday morning Elisha (11 - with autism) made oatmeal for breakfast and coffee for the big people. This was his first time ever making oatmeal. He asked me how to make and then he memorized the instructions and repeated them verbatim. He even enlisted the help of his younger brother (Malachi) to watch the stove while he went to the bathroom. This is a huge stride for us and made me feel like he may some day actually be able to live on his own.

Another first this week was when Elisha came up and gave me a hug and kissed me on the cheek. This makes a mother of a child of autism positively giddy. This child, at eleven, is only just now learning how to show emotion to someone else. It was just last year that he started writing I love you cards to Jonah and I and the grandparents. We are making progress. Slow and steady.

Oh yeah, about our school work. We have been plugging along with our school work and making decent progress. Some days it feels like the same old same old and I can't wait to change things up for next year.

An Exciting Week At Our House

Many exciting things happened this week and I wanted to share them all with you.

LAST WEEKEND - Moses turned 9 last week. Wow! Where did the time go? He got a microscope on his actual birthday and then we had a family party with the cousins on the weekend.

LAST WEEKEND - My wonderful husband had a birthday last week too. We also celebrated his birthday on the weekend at the big family party.

SUNDAY - My brand new site Marketplace Mommies went live last Sunday. We had an amazing 900 page views on our first day. Come on over and visit.

MONDAY - We  started our first day of our new school materials. We completed our Bible Lessons. You can read more about Our Homeschool Plans. Let me just say that we all love the new materials and just wish there were more hours in the day. The month of August is for figuring out a schedule and trying to iron out any glitches.

TUESDAY - We started our second day of school. We completed Bible and Math.

WEDNESDAY - We started our third day of school. Malachi completed Bible, Math, English, and Reading. Moses completed Bible and Math. Elisha completed Bible and Math. This was it for school this week. We are schooling roughly 3 days a week for August.

WEDNESDAY - This was my day at the MOB (Mother's of Boys Society) and I wrote a post called, "For the love of Battle" about my six year old son.

THURSDAY - This was my day at The Homeschool Classroom where I wrote about Fire Safety.

SATURDAY - This day will be our 11th Wedding Anniversary. It has been an incredible 11 years. I can't believe it has been that long already (but we have 5 children to prove it).

I am linking up this post with the Weekly Wrap-up over at Weird, Unsocialized Homeschoolers.

I am also linking up this post with this week's Friday Fails because I failed to mention all these awesome things in the moment when they were happening.

What happened this week at your house?
