The Simple Woman’s Daybook

The Simple Woman’s Daybook

09/03/2010

Outside my window… clouds fill the gloomy grey sky.

I am thinking… about the sick children resting in their beds upstairs.

I am thankful for… the snuggle time I got with Zion this morning.

From the learning room… I am thinking about the end of this term and the beginning of the new term.

From the kitchen… I am thinking about the pizza that will be for dinner tonight (our new Tuesday Tradition).

I am wearing… my everyday clothes.

I am creating… some fun new downloads for my website.

I am going… to tend to sick children today.

I am still reading… Born On A Blue Day, Pen On Fire, Managing Their Schools, Educating The Whole Hearted Child, and Henry Huggins (we found it).

I am hoping… to coax the children into doing a minimal amount of work between coughs and whines.

I am hearing… cars drive by, children coughing, and my husband snoring (in the rocking chair beside me – he’s sick too).

Around the house… are little messes made by children playing this morning.

One of my favorite things… was taking a Sunday afternoon nap with Malachi this week.

A few plans for the rest of the week… Scratch the plans to visit Nana (all the kids got sick). Portfolio is due on Friday!

Here is a picture thought I am sharing this week…

I absolutely love this picture of my son at the beach. What do you think?

Morning Has Broken

Here is my Song For Sunday:

Something triggered my memory of the song, Morning Has Broken this week. I first learned this song in my elementary music class. I have fond memories of my elementary music class and Mrs. Bailey. She was the most amazing music teacher. I found out years later that Mrs. Bailey was a Christian when I saw her at a youth meeting her son was leading. I remember sitting in her class once a week and learning a variety of different types of music. She had a Smartie jar that you got to visit when you were well behaved. There were two rows of stools at the back of the class that you got to sit on when you were in grade six or seven. I can still vividly see her classroom and how it was laid out. It’s funny the things you remember after 28 years.

On doing a search of Mrs. Bailey, I was saddened to discover that she died of Alzheimer’s last summer. I have such good memories of her.
