Unknown Spider and Mysterious Tracks

NatureStudybutton1 Unknown Spider and Mysterious Tracks

It is time for Nature Study Tuesday and we have been having some fun.

Here is a spider that daddy and the kids found outside the back door. Does anyone know what kind it is? How do I find out what kind of spider this is?

Daddy and the boys found these mysterious tracks in our pathway this week. These tracks were found first thing in the morning. Keep in mind we live in the city. Does anyone know what animal the tracks could be to?

Lots of mystery, huh? :) . My first guess on the tracks is racoon, is that a possibility? We have them here, but I’ve never seen their tracks. What a creepy looking spider.

      Hi Jennifer,

If it is a raccoon, I did not know that we had them here (in the city). I guess they have to eat. We have a bunny and guinea pig in a hutch outside, I guess we will need to make sure they cage is secure.

The spider creeped me out as well. I am just glad that it was outside and not inside.

Thanks for visiting and leaving a comment.

We live in a city too and apparently there are quite a few. I’ve never seen them alive, just the ones that have lost a fight with a car.
The other thought that comes to mind is maybe an opposum?

          Hi Jennifer,

My husband suggested that too. I don’t even know if we have those around here, I will have to look into that.

My first thought when seeing the tracks is racoon! As for the spider, I do not have a clue!

      Hi Daina,

My husband thought it might be a raccoon as well. I don’t know. I guess it is time to start looking up track prints on-line.

That spider is one that I have never seen before.

Hey Honey! My first thought on the spider was an orb weaver. (Sometimes also called grass spiders) And as far as the tracks, I am agreeing, looks like raccoons to me!

      Hi Kimberly,

I am thinking that you might be right about the spider. Everyone seems to think that the tracks were either a raccoon or an opossum.

Thank you for visiting my blog and taking the time to leave a comment.

Holy cow, are those tracks as big as they look? Maybe someone is playing a prank on you otherwise I don’t have a clue what they could be. Raccoons have longs claws so its not that. Yikes, let us know if you see anymore of them.

      Hi Amber,

I am not exactly sure how big the tracks were. My husband saw them (and took the picture) before they got erased by kids playing.

We have not seen anymore since then, thank goodness.
