Mary-Ann Kirkby shares her recollections about life growing up on a Hutterite Colony in Canada with amazing candor and explicit detail. This book is an autobiography of her life and experiences inside the colony as well as her struggles adjusting to life in the outside world. I was transported through time and actually felt like I was experiencing the journey with her.
Personally, I was inspired by the benefits of colony life and the longings that I have for simpler times was revisited. While I was able to recognize the many benefits of colony life and simpler times, light was also shed on the difficulties and challenges that were to be had sharing all things in common.
I Am Hutterite was an absolutely fascinating read for me. From the very first moment that I picked up the book, I was drawn into the story and held captivated. This was a well constructed story and I would highly recommend this book as I found it to be an excellent read.
I received this book free from Thomas Nelson Publishers as part of their BookSneeze.com book review bloggers program. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

I read this book recently also. I really enjoyed it-especially the simpler aspect of life that the author shares.
