When I saw the amazing things that this website said could be made out of foam board, I just knew that I had to share it with you. I also knew that I had to do more research as that is just who I am (you probably realized that by now).
A boy and his castle.
Malachi is my boy who loves battles. We have no idea why, but he does. He creates battles out of anything he can get his hands on, including things like Dominoes, Duplo, Lego, teddy bear counters and playing cards. I am always on the lookout for creative and inexpensive things for him to play with along this interest of his.
Can you imagine how excited I was when I saw this castle made out of foam board? Here are the castle making instructions in case you have a boy that absolutely loves battles and you want to make one for him. As you look at that first picture, just imagine it all decked out with gray brick of some kind.
Of course, I had to check and see where foam board is offered and how much it costs. Well, they sell it just up the street from here at Office Depot and wouldn’t you know it, it comes in gray! I am so excited. Guess what I am making for my little guy for his birthday next month? It’s a good thing that he can’t read yet because he comes to my site everyday for the KidLinks.
A girl and her doll house.
Hosanna is my one and only girl. She plays so differently from the boys. She can be just as rough as them when she wants to be, but she is naturally more nurturing than they ever were. It has been really exciting watching her and her twin Zion grow up together. We always wondered if boys and girls had natural bents towards certain things, just because, and it is our belief that they do.
Hosanna loves carting around her stuffed animals. She can often be found sitting on the rocking chair nursing her various toys (stuffed animals, dolls, and Rescue Heroes). Zion has never done this. He is interested in moving heavy things and helping daddy with whatever he happens to be doing.
It is so different for me raising a girl and I am still trying to figure her out. She is complicated (okay, aren’t we all?). I have been on the lookout for things to make for her as she grows up and I was really excited to find this adorable foam board Barbie doll house. I have visions of following these doll house instructions and making a fun play house for her Barbie dolls when she gets a little bit older. My only concern is, what will the boys do to it?
Have you ever made anything out of foam board?
What other uses are there for foam board?

Now that is so cool! My son is a total builder boy-dominos, those little erasers, popsicle sticks -whatever he finds, he builds something out of it-I am so going to have him build some stuff out of foam board-not sure why I never thought of it myself-thanks for sharing!

Hi Ryan,
Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my blog and leave a comment.
I can’t wait to make this for my son for his birthday. I know he is going to love it.
I am trying to think of other creative things that could be made out of foam board for the kids. Do you have any ideas?
Blessings

I am looking for a doll house with a more finished look, with roof and more details, but what you have posted look very nice. Thank you.
I do not normally comment or do blogs, etc. on the internet.
I have used the foamcore board. My sister and I hosted our ladies church Christmas party last year and used gingerbread houses for a theme. We made gingerbread houses from the foam board. They were fun to make. We used them for door prizes and the ladies loved them. They can be made very simple with very little time or very elaborate. I have also used foam board for making other Christmas decorations and
ornaments.
