The sky outside is missing its sun.
The day is over and it has had its fun.
The children are all cozy,
in their comfy beds.
The gurgling fish tank
whispers loudly from the kitchen.
The clock ticking
can actually be heard.
The melodic dripping of water
drowns out my thoughts.
The traffic outside
fills in the blanks.
The breathing of little people
keeps time with the wind.
My husband beside me
is sawing some logs.
The soft music I play while the children sleep
distracts me from slumber.
In the noise of the day
I long for the silence.
Can I ever hear silence?
What does silence sound like?

A beautiful poem. I never knew you were a poet as well as all the other creative things you are. Doesn’t really surprise me though!
Keep writing, and of course sharing with us ever once in awhile too.

Hi Sara,
Thank you for the nice comments. I used to write poetry all the time before I had children.
I will try to share more of my poetry and creative writing here.
Blessings
Honey
